  • Is it cheaper to keep my heating on a constant temperature all the time or use it on a timer to come on and off at set times?
Recalling our experience of visiting thousands of homes over the years, we have found the answer to this is dependant on the house you live in. A customer living in a new build house with very low heat loss may be better off keeping the heat demand at a continuous temperature as this saves the cost of having to heat up from cold each time. With little heat being lost, it can be more efficient this way. However, a customer living in an older property with higher ceilings, larger windows and spaces, larger radiators and higher heat loss would be constantly replacing lost heat. We advise our customers to survey their own circumstances and set their heating controls accordingly.
  • Should I buy a smart thermostat?
Reflecting over the years and the conversations we have had with customers, usually explaining how their controls and boiler works...we feel it is imperative you have a control system you fully understand so you can maximise the efficiency of your heating system. There are multiple thermostats on a system, and understanding the operation of each one leads to greater control over your usage and consumption. So Yes, we would highly recommend an upgrade to a smart thermostat to put control of your heating where it belongs, firmly in the hands of the user.
